	AMERICA ONLINE LAUNCHES AOL® COMMUNICATOR Advanced Communications Suite Brings Together Integrated E-Mail, Instant Messaging, Address Book, Radio@AOL for Broadband and Personalized News and Information Gives Advanced AOL® Mail Users Greater Flexibility and Control for Managing Their Online Communications DULLES, VA – August 5, 2003 – America Online, Inc., the world's leading interactive services company, today announced the launch of AOL® Communicator, a stand-alone, advanced communications product for AOL® members that brings together enhanced e-mail, instant messaging and a full-featured Address Book into one integrated suite. AOL Communicator is available at no additional charge to AOL members who can use it seamlessly with the AOL® and AOL® for Broadband services to manage their online communications. AOL Communicator can consolidate e-mail from multiple AOL Screen Names and other POP and IMAP accounts into a single application. Ideal for AOL for Broadband members seeking an always-on communications package, AOL Communicator also integrates Radio@AOL for Broadband and My AOL Today, an all-new, interactive screen saver and news ticker, that delivers personalized news and information according to a member's selected interests. AOL Communicator complements the new AOL® 9.0 Optimized, which includes an extensive array of rich communications options, including an upgrade for AOL Mail, enhanced instant messaging services, as well as additional built-in safety and security protections, AOL's new TopSpeed™ Web accelerator technology that is designed to enhance Web surfing, and more. “Many AOL members, especially those using the AOL for Broadband service, have expressed great interest in using more advanced e-mail features and we’re thrilled to now provide them with this robust, full-featured communications application,” said David Gang, Executive Vice President of AOL Products. “For 'power' mail users, AOL Communicator is the perfect combination of powerful e-mail, instant messaging, personalized and up-to-the-minute news and content, and the hallmark ease of use AOL members have come to expect.” AOL Communicator offers AOL members looking for more advanced e-mail functionality greater control, flexibility, and organization through a suite of features including: Easy Management of Multiple Mailboxes - Allows members to read and send e-mail messages from all of their AOL Screen Names as well as standards-based e-mail accounts, such as POP and IMAP, from a single application. Intelligent Spam Filtering - Lets members automatically separate and eliminate unwanted e-mail, displaying spam messages in a separate color, as well as in a separate spam folder for quick review and one-click deletion. Members can also mark e-mail as spam, helping AOL Communicator’s adaptive spam filters to catch similar e-mail in the future by learning over time what the member considers to be spam. Flexible E-Mail Management - Lets members organize e-mail the way they want with flexible sorting, filters and folders. Members can, for example, sort by sender, date, and subject and set up filters to separate e-mail from a specific sender. Members can also view individual e-mail messages in a flexible three-pane window without the need to open separate windows for each message. Simplified Attachments - Allow members to view or save e-mail attachments by simply clicking on attachment links within e-mail messages. When composing e-mail, members can also easily add one or more attachments by simply dragging and dropping files directly onto their message. Full-Featured Address Book – AOL Communicator streamlines the addressing of e-mail and instant messages with powerful features such as the ability to display contacts by a “friendly name” or nickname rather than by e-mail address. AOL Communicator’s full-featured Address Book automatically synchronizes with the member’s AOL Address Book, making it accessible whenever and wherever they access the AOL service. Integrated Buddy List® and Mail Features – With AOL Communicator, members can display the names of family, friends, and co-workers in their Buddy List window by a friendly name, e-mail address, or instant messaging Screen Name. And for added convenience, when an instant messaging buddy sends e-mail, an indicator is displayed next to that person's name in the Buddy List window. Clicking the indicator opens the e-mail. Integrated Radio@AOL for Broadband - Provides AOL for Broadband users with one-click access to Radio@AOL for Broadband, featuring more than 175 stations of music, news, sports, entertainment, popular terrestrial radio programming and more, all in CD-quality audio. Members can also share favorite stations, allowing their current selection to be displayed when instant messaging with friends and family, or send the stations directly via instant messaging. Interactive Screen Saver and News Ticker - A dynamic “My AOL Today” screen saver gives members quick access to personalized news, weather, sports, entertainment, and stocks. As headlines and images stream across the screen, members can click on stories to either view a video feed or read an article. In addition, the My AOL Today Ticker offers similar content, but in a convenient customizable ticker that streams across the member’s desktop.
